General announcements:
-As the weather gets colder, please be advised of our uniform guidelines per the GHNO handbook:
Outerwear: The only outerwear allowable to be worn in the school building are the official school sweaters as
described in the uniform guidelines. Great Hearts Northern Oaks uniform Navy-blue sweater, and quarter zip
sweatshirt with logo may be worn throughout the school day all year long.
Jackets and sweatshirts (including spirit jackets/hoodies with the Griffin logo) may be worn during recess and
outdoor transitions for warmth, but must be free of logos and messages, with the following exceptions: small
sports team logos (e.g., Griffins, Spurs) and small brand name logos (e.g. the Ralph Lauren “polo”) are
acceptable, provided they are tasteful and do not make inappropriate allusions. All jackets and sweatshirts
must be solid colored and may have no patterns or distracting/oversized logos of any kind. Jackets and
sweatshirts must remain in the lockers, cubbies or desks for the remainder of the school day.
This week in class:
Grammar: Subject-verb agreement, possessive pronoun adjectives, and idioms. Quiz Wednesday.
Writing: Independent Study Projects will go out Wednesday. We will continue reviewing expository essays in preparation for ISP.
Literature: Stanzas 1-2 of "The Pobble Who Has No Toes" due to be memorized Tuesday, 11/29. We will begin Robin Hood Wednesday--please acquire the Core Knowledge version as soon as possible: https://www.coreknowledge.org/product/robin-hood/
Math: Adding and subtracting fractions. Quiz on Wednesday.
Science: Exploring Magnets. Quiz Wednesday. A study guide for the circuits/magnetism unit will be sent out Thursday for an assessment on 12/5.
